G&M to Buy Wendy’s Then Hire Self as Ad Agency

MANHATTAN BEACH–Breaking new ground in the hunt for new business, G&M Plumbing plans to buy Wendy’s Restaurant chain, then immediately hire itself as the QSR’s agency of record. Just after word broke that the chain might be for sale, the G&M team began concocting their plan. Said Principal Glenn Miller, “Look, every agency is always looking for new ways to get clients. Well, this is a new way. And once we own the chain, we’re guaranteed to get the business.” In a somewhat humorous twist, agency principal Mickey Taylor said they might put the account into review just for fun. “Yeah, we might have a big shoot-off, get several agencies excited, watch them do their song and dance, then award the business to ourselves.” He added, “We’re also very excited about presenting to ourselves. Glenn and I might read a couple TV scripts, then walk to the other side of the table and just start applauding.” Both principals expressed the desire to buy other companies as well in order to hire themselves. “It just makes the whole agency-hiring process so much easier.” The ad industry and the restaurant industry are asking the obvious question: How does an ad agency plan on buying an enormous restaurant chain? When confronted with this, Miller took a breath and said, “Don’t think so small.” Taylor added, “Yeah.” There’s no word on the exact date the agency plans on making its initial bid.
