Manhattan Beach—Due to the growing popularity of user-generated content, ad agency G&M Plumbing announced it’s own site called “YouAd.” A site where users can upload fully-produced content for ad campaigns making the creative department’s job “a whole lot easier.”

“We recognized the tremendous cost and time savings of not doing any of the work ourselves and letting others do it for us,” said a G&M spokesperson. “It seems to be business model that is working with sites like YouTube so we figured why not ad campaigns?” he added.

The agency said users would simply upload their video, an editor at the agency would then add a client’s logo to the end of it and it would be sent out to networks.

“Doing great work is very time consuming and difficult,” said an agency copywriter. “With ‘YouAd’, I figure I’m going to be in the office for a few hours in the morning, review a few of the submissions and then head off to the tennis court,” he said.

The agency says it has already created a spot for a Bud Light featuring guys playing air guitar in their dorm room. The two college kids rock out to a Van Halen song followed by a three-second logo end page and tagline reminding viewers of the fresh clean taste of Bud Light.

When asked what the air guitar performance had to do with Bud Light, the spokesperson replied, “Nothing at all. But I think you’re missing the point. It’s user generated. That’s what’s hot right now and it was a heck of a lot easier than having to come up with an idea ourselves.”
