MANHATTAN BEACH, CA—The guys at G&M are not looking forward to the yet-to-be announced office baby shower for Managing Partner, Lisa Welch-Nehring. The new arrival, due in late February has been cause for much concern as the date rapidly approaches.

Associate Creative Director, Brian Engleman is “dreading” the impending office event. “A baby shower? What the hell am I going to do at a baby shower?” he asked. “I’m going to have to pretend to be all interested as she unwraps bibs and stuff. Maybe I can call in sick that day,” noted Engleman.

Sources at the agency haven’t yet confirmed an official baby shower for Lisa but they say the women in the office have likely already set initial plans in motion. “Nothing is concrete yet, but we have a few ideas, we’re tossing around,” said Account Coordinator, Allie Goodnoe. “It’ll be soooo much fun,” she added.

Ms. Goodnoe’s enthusiasm for the event is in stark contrast to the general attitude of the men in the agency. Invitees to baby showers have traditionally been female, but when in an office environment, men are not only invited, but expected to attend, which can often times place them in an uncomfortable position.

“I don’t have the slightest idea what to get someone for a baby shower,” noted Account Executive, Matt Small. “Would a nice bottle of Scotch be inappropriate? I don’t know?” he said. When Mr. Small’s colleague Kate Vuturo suggested a “onesie” would make a nice gift, he responded with a blank stare followed by the question, “a whatsie?”

The women at G&M plan to make an official announcement by early January.
