G&M creative team’s new office smaller than expected. Forced to re-think plan to turn space into “party palace.”

Manhattan Beach— A creative team was visibly disappointed upon learning their new office lacked sufficient space for a so-called “party palace.” The team had formulated a theme for their new office before G&M moved into new space last week, but after seeing the actual office are now drastically scaling back on their plans.
Before the move, the team had imagined a spacious office with room for a “wet bar, some mood lighting and an area to just chill,” said the Art Director. “Once we got our desks and computers in there, it was like geez, we don’t have room for anything but work stuff,” he added.
“I had envisioned something much larger,” noted the Copywriter. “I mean we spent a lot of time thinking about how to turn our office into a really cool, hip environment. We even started shopping for furniture and glassware, but apparently it was just a waste of time,” he went on to say.
Principals at G&M responded to the team’s dissatisfaction with their office. In a phone interview, Mickey Taylor said, “Unfortunately, we simply don’t have the space at this time to accommodate their plans.” Agency partner Glenn Miller added, “We understand their disappointment but they must remember this is a place of business, not a frat house.”
In a memo to the team Mr. Miller wrote, “If you would like to discuss this further, we can meet in our private conference room in the east wing of mine and Mickey’s office (not the room with the air hockey and pool table. It’s the room just to the left of our private workout room adjacent to our desks.)”
Mr. Miller and Mr. Taylor went on to say that the new G&M office space is still a work in progress. “Who knows, perhaps the addition of the Charlie’s Angels pinball machine and full-size Budweiser Kegerator will be too much for the lounge area in mine and Glenn’s office,” said Mr. Taylor. “In that case, they’re free to see if they can somehow make it fit in theirs.”
